Mourning Roast Brings Specialty Coffee to Stones Corner Almost Around the Clock

Whether you’re dashing for an early bus or winding down after a long shift, Mourning Roast in Stones Corner has you covered. The specialty coffee bar at 377 Logan Road is open daily from 4am until 11pm — a rare thing in Brisbane’s café scene — and locals have already taken to it as a proper neighbourhood gathering spot.

The café is the brainchild of couple Sam and Nadine, who set out to build something more than just a place to grab a flat white. The space reflects that ambition, blending contemporary design with a distinctly gothic edge. Think plush vintage sofas, moody interiors, and enough atmosphere to make you want to linger well past your second cup.

On the coffee front, Mourning Roast punches above its weight. The house espresso blend sits at the heart of the menu, alongside batch brew, cold brew, and a single-origin option sourced through Brisbane-based roaster Black Mass Roasters. For those who prefer something without the caffeine kick, there’s hot chocolate, chai latte, matcha, and frappes on offer too.

Food hasn’t been an afterthought either. The cabinet is stocked with house-baked treats that lean into the café’s slightly theatrical personality — carrot cake jam drop biscuits, double choc biscotti, chocolate macadamia brownies, pavlova rocky road, and cinnabuns finished with an espresso maple glaze. There’s a vegan cinnabun option as well, plus the more straightforward ham and cheese croissant for those who like to keep things simple.

The café’s hours, running from 4am through to 11pm, have already drawn praise from regulars who note there aren’t many spots in Brisbane serving quality coffee late into the evening.

Mourning Roast is located at 377 Logan Road, Stones Corner, and is open seven days a week.
