Greenslopes diners have a new fast-casual option close to home, with Dirk’s opening at Buranda Village on Ipswich Road.
The hot dog-focused venue began trading on 20 August, according to Buranda Village, bringing a menu built around beef, chicken and plant-based sausages served in soft buns with a range of toppings. The centre currently lists trading hours from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.
Located beside Luv-a-Coffee on the ground floor of Buranda Village, Dirk’s is well placed for residents moving between Greenslopes, Woolloongabba, Stones Corner and the nearby Princess Alexandra Hospital precinct.
A Fast-Casual Take on the Hot Dog
Rather than treating the hot dog as a side act, Dirk’s has made it the centre of the menu.
Customers can choose from several combinations, including a classic version with tomato relish, mustard, pickles and red onion, as well as a chilli-cheese option with three-bean chilli, chipotle cheese sauce and jalapeños.
Buranda Village says the broader menu also includes loaded sides, chicken tenders, salads, house-made sodas and soft serve. Plant-based sausage options are available alongside beef and chicken.

Hospitality Experience Behind the Concept
The business has been developed by a team with experience connected to brands including Boost Juice, Grill’d and BOUNCEinc, with chef Matt Wilkinson involved as a culinary consultant.
Dirk’s is also promoting a community initiative called “Dirk’s Loves Dogs”. Buranda Village says the business has partnered with RSPCA Queensland in support of animal welfare.
The partnership adds another element to a brand otherwise centred on a simple proposition: hot dogs served as a dedicated fast-casual meal rather than an occasional snack.
Buranda Village Continues to Change
Dirk’s opening also broadens the centre’s quick-service food mix without requiring residents to head into the CBD or South Bank for a casual meal. Buranda Village sits at the junction of Ipswich Road and Cornwall Street, close to Stones Corner and the PA Hospital, making the centre part of the retail and transport corridor used by many people in Brisbane’s inner south.
The opening also lands during a broader period of change for Buranda Village.
Owner Vicinity Centres has plans to redevelop the site into a mixed-use precinct combining retail, dining, residential and commercial space. Current plans outlined by Vicinity include about 600 apartments, around 50,000 square metres of office space and a new open-air retail and dining area.
Vicinity says Buranda Village records about 2.4 million visits a year and serves a trade area of more than 141,000 people, based on figures current to 31 December 2025.
